Liat Hessel specialises in food legislation and regulation in Israel. She provides consultancy services to food manufacturers, importers, start-ups and multinational companies. She has over 20 years' experience in development and procurement roles in the food industry, as well as a further 10 years' experience as an advocate. She provides regulatory opinions and advice on food labelling, as well as opinions for the court. She has in-depth knowledge of food legislation in Israel, the European Union and the United States.

A food engineer and graduate of the Technion, Liat spent 15 years on the development team at a leading food company. There, she was involved in developing products for Israel and a variety of other markets, specialising in product labelling in different markets. She previously worked at another leading food company, including several years in food raw materials purchasing, during which time she became familiar with the import sector.

She is also a lecturer at several academic and private institutions, teaching on topics such as food labelling, legal and regulatory requirements in specific food sectors, legal loopholes, labelling requirements between Israel, Europe and the US, intellectual property in the food sector, legal updates and adapting product development to legal requirements.
