With nearly 20 years of expertise in national security and foreign policy, Nate provides clients compliance advice on the U.S. Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Nate assists in obtaining necessary export authorizations, conducting analyses on emerging and critical technologies, managing jurisdiction and classification requests, and handling ITAR registration actions. Nate actively monitors export control developments and is a regular contributor to Crowell’s international trade blog (International Trade Law Blog from Crowell & Moring LLP).

In his previous roles, Nate spent several years leading high-level projects for the U.S. Department of Defense and global aerospace firms. At the U.S. State Department, he was pivotal as a Senior Defense Trade Analyst at the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and helped shape foreign military sales policy at the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs. He also served overseas at U.S. embassies in Russia, the Philippines, and Kazakhstan, where he wrote cables on political and economic developments. He began his career in the federal government as a Presidential Management Fellow focusing on civil nuclear cooperation and nonproliferation policy.
