On 17 September 2026 the Commission published the change to the product list of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) - three and a half months before the regulation starts to apply. Leather, conveyor belts and retreaded tyres are out. Soluble coffee, soap and palm-based chemicals are in from 30 December 2027. And almost every entry now carries 'ex', which means the commodity code alone no longer tells you whether goods are covered: species, material and use decide, and those are facts most company systems do not hold. This article maps the changes commodity by commodity, gives the TARIC certificate codes to declare at the border and the evidence to keep behind each one, and includes a worked example - a customs representative's three declarations under the new rules. It also names what the act leaves unclear, and ends with ten things importers, exporters and customs representatives should do, starting now.
